It
was the first
time for the
amalgamated
Margaret Avenue
Congregation
to celebrate
Chinese New Year
of Rooster
together with
KW Chinese Focus
Group
on Jan. 29,
2017. The Divine
service was held
by Bishop
Apfelbeck,
assisted by Ev.
Zhu and Deacon
Yang, and
translated by Ev.
Truong.
There are about
368 attendances,
including 23
guests. The
service was
followed by
potluck
fellowship with
Chinese theme in
the basement,
which was
beautifully
decorated with
Chinese lanterns
and many
different style
of Chinese word:
Blessing (福),
along with
background
Chinese
traditional
music.
Immediately
after the
potluck
fellowship,
biweekly Bible
study on
Catechism Q&A
book was hosted
by Deacon Yang
with open prayer
by retired Sh.
Chen. Finally,
all Chinese
brothers and
sisters joyfully
practised many
hymns in the
preparation for
the monthly
Chinese Focus
service on Feb.
12, 2017.

Willowdale
New Apostolic
Congregation had
a Chinese New
Year Celebration
at Mary Wood
Catholic School
in Scarborough
on January 29,
2017. The school
was decorated
with Chinese
lanterns and
roster as this
year was year of
Roster. The
Divine service
was held by
Bishop Voeun and
translated by
sister Jennifer
Xiang. District
Elder Anker, Ev.
Gallagher,
District Elder
Latoricai,
Priest Muth,
Priest Horn and
Priest Rob also
attended the
Chinese Service.
The service was
followed by
Chinese New Year
Celebration
Performance and
potluck. Chinese
sisters and
brothers made
traditional
Chinese food
dumplings . 19
kids were given
a red bag which
was Chinese New
Year Tradition
too. Adults and
kids performed
and Sunday
School Teacher
Susan led a game
which involved
48 people on
stage. The
Chinese New Year
Celebration was
held with fun.
85 attendances
and 29 guests
were all happy
to be together
in the name of
Jesus to
celebrate the
Chinese New
Year.
